13 Days of January | Day 5: Reversed Polarities

Salut les filles! Aujourd'hui, je m'attaque au jour n°5 du challenge "13 days of January" et le thème était : polarités inversées. 

Hi guys! Today, I'm showing you the mani I did for day 5 of the 13 days of January Nail Art Challenge! =) 

Je dois vous avouer qu'au départ, je n'avais pas très bien compris ce que ça voulait dire... et je ne sais toujours pas si ma manucure est bien dans le thème, lol!

The prompt was Reversed Polarities and I have to confess that I didn't really know what to do. What does "reversed polarities" mean when it comes to nail art? I had absolutely no idea! lol! 

Pour ce nail art, j'ai choisi une manucure existante (ici les "Cattails at Sunset" de mon amie Sarah @Chalkboard Nails), puis dans Gimp j'ai utilisé la fonction "Inverser" les couleurs et voilà ce que ça a donné :

So I just chose a nail art I like (here, the beautiful "Cattails at Sunset" mani of the talented Sarah @Chalkboard Nails), opened it in Gimp and used the "Invert" colors function. Here was the result:

Tada! Avec cette petite manipulation, j'avais enfin un modèle pour mon nail art. Il ne restait plus qu'à choisir les vernis que j'allais utiliser.

Now that I had finally found my inspiration, I just had to pick the nail polishes.

Pour commencer, j'ai appliqué 2 couches de Elevation Polish Cuernos del Paine. Puis, j'ai réalisé un dégradé à l'éponge avec Cuernos del Paine, Kiko 389 Mint Milk, Kiko 341 Colbalt Green et OPI Keeping Suzi At Bay.

First, I applied 2 coats of Elevation Polish Cuernos del Paine. Then, I sponged a gradient with Cuernos del Paine, Kiko 389 Mint Milk, Kiko 341 Colbalt Green and OPI Keeping Suzi At Bay.

Ensuite, avec de la peinture acrylique blanche j'ai dessiné les "cattails" (des massettes ou Typha, ou encore quenouilles pour nos cousins Québécois. Merci Google!).

Next, I used some white acrylic paint to draw the cattails.

Une petite couche KBShimmer Clearly on Top pour fixer le tout. Et voilà! :D

Final step, one coat of KBShimmer Clearly to seal the design. And voilà! :D
